Description Anne-Marie Mahfouf 2003-10-29 14:58:09 UTC
Version: 1.3 Beta (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 3.2.2 (Mandrake Linux 9.1 3.2.2-3mdk)
OS: Linux

CVS HEAD 28 October 2003
new user (i. no previous konsolerc file in ~/.kde/share/config)

In the Settings Menu, Configure Konsole, in the Schema tab, in Schema, when you chooose another schema and click the Apply Button, the new schema is NOT applied. It is still NOT applied when clicking on OK.

You have to go to the Settings -> Schema menu to change the schema.

As a user, I expect the new schema to be applied when I go in Configure Konsole -> Schema Tab

The schema editor is not intended to change your current schema. Changes to your current used schema are applied fine here.
Comment 2 Rolf Viehmann 2005-06-29 23:12:55 UTC
I can confirm what Stephan Binner reports, but I think the usability is a bit questionable, I think that if you select another schema in [Settings->Configure Konsole...->Schema] that this schema should be applied to the current console immediately (it would be the most logical thing to happen, IMHO).
Comment 3 Sander Koning 2006-10-23 18:36:44 UTC
I just had a user complaining about the Schema tab: he thought it would set his current schema. If the dialog is going to remain the same, is it then possible to rename the tab to "Edit Schemas"? (And the "Session" tab to "Edit Session Types"?)

I hope to redo the settings dialog for KDE 4. It has some major shortcomings from a usability perspective.
Comment 5 Robert Knight 2008-01-03 19:32:03 UTC
Settings dialogs completely replaced in KDE 4, solves the aforementioned usability problem.
