Description Lucius Chiaraviglio 2003-10-02 08:23:29 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 3.2.1
OS: Linux

Deleting a message from an IMAP folder (Inbox) causes it to get duplicated. Where the copies go depends upon how Configure KMail:Network:Receiving:General is set with respect to Trash Folder. If the Trash Folder is the IMAP server's trash folder ("Deleted"), then 2 copies of the message appear in that folder. If the Trash Folder is "trash" (local), the message goes both to the IMAP server's trash folder ("Deleted") and the "trash" (local) folder. In the latter case, attempting to empty the trash on the IMAP server causes the messages to get copied (again) to "trash" (local), regardless of whether or not the IMAP server actually succeeds in emptying its trash folder (the IMAP server I use, MailAndNews.com, seems to have a bug that often causes this to fail -- failure to empty the trash also occurs under other NetScape Messenger 4.78 or 7.1, but message duplication does not occur under NetScape Messenger).

As you compiled from source, can you compile KDE 3.1.4 too?

Not reproducible and no further response from the reporter.
Comment 3 Lucius Chiaraviglio 2004-01-17 21:47:53 UTC
Unfortunately, the only IMAP server I had access to (MailAndNews.com) fried after your request to test under KDE 3.1.4, and I have had to come to the conclusion that it is permanently fried (you can access its associated web page, but not log in through either IMAP or the web page, nor establish a new account). I will not be able to test this until I can get access to another IMAP server.
