there once was a program netcfg .. http://netcfg.sourceforge.net/ .. its seems not to be developed anymore .. i use to have the ability to change network-locations ( including dns, nis , wlan ) in macosx very eays .. i really miss this in kde ... would be nice for linux-laptopusers .. thanks -c-

Setting all variables is not possible, see discussions on #30463. For KDE session-wide 
configuration, this is a duplicate.

You can do it using new software available on both KDE3 and KDE4. (look at knetwork manager, for an example)
