Version:           1.5.4 (using KDE 3.1.4)
Installed from:    Gentoo
Compiler:          gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Gentoo Linux 1.4 3.2.3-r1, propolice)
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-gentoo-r5

I would like the ability to configure kmail so that it highlight the email subject dependant of the sender, cclist etc..

groups would be setup with list of email addresses.
Each folder (if feasable) would have some highlighting rules for mail groups, 

e.g. :

If my line manager is the CC list of an email I recieve then highlight the subject text/background yellow.

If none of the reciepts or the sender are in my address book then highlight .....

This attached patch does a simple version of what you asked for. I sent it to the kde-pim email list today.

You can create a filter and mark the mails as important for example.
