Description Alexey Arzamasov 2003-09-11 04:25:03 UTC
Version: 1.5.3 (using KDE 3.1.3)
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.3 2.96-110)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.21

There are two application in KDE - KMail and KNode. KMail's functionality is pretty big, and while it's already support message threading, many protocols etc, why not to have an NNTP transport support? I use KMail an KNode usually, and switching to the KNode is confusing (IMHO), because the user should use different keyboard navigation (KNode's "emulate KMail keyboard" is not the clue) and so on.
So, what do you think about this?

Use Kontact. It embeds Kmail/Knode/Korganizer/Knotes and more.
Comment 2 Malte S. Stretz 2003-09-12 12:40:25 UTC
The solution is not teaching KMail NNTP but to make the two apps more
consistent :o)

As cartman pointed out, you can already use Kontact to have both applications
"merged" to one. And there're also some people working on making KMail and
KNode more similar, ie. making the interfaces less different.

I'm sorry but I was wrong to close this bug. Zack enlightened me that a merge
of KMail and KNode is indeed planned for some time in the future. So your wish
is valid (contrary to bug 19656, bug 24532, bug 53594 and bug 54809).
