Sentry Crash Report:

Description Ian Wadham 2003-08-21 09:21:02 UTC
Version: 3.0.0a5 (using KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: SuSE
Compiler: gcc version 3.3 20030226 (prerelease) (SuSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-4GB

I just downloaded and installed Gideon yesterday (20 Aug 03). My usual
project was left open the last time I used Gideon before the download. Now
I cannot close the project: nor can I open a new project. Gideon just crashes
with a SIGSEGV fault. I have saved the Gideon log file and SIGSEGV trace
info. Please let me know if you need it.

BTW I don't think I have closed my project for several weeks, so maybe
the older version of Gideon had the same problem.

I have also been doing edits and makes in a command window. In Gideon,
when I got this Close Project problem, I did Make Distclean, Automake,
Configure and Build Project, to clean up and resynch everything, but the
Close Project problem did not go away.

I think it is solved now, update gideon and retry.

Sorry, Amilcar, it still crashes when I try to close my project :-(
I updated at about 2.00am GMT (midday in Australia) on 22-Aug-03.

This sounds exactly like the crash-on-project-close that was reported by many
other people around the time of this report.

Please reupdate. If still doesn't work, check if your $KDEDIR/share/apps/
kdevcppsupportpart/kdevcppsupportpart.rc file contains the closing Menubar
tag at (probably) line 19. Like:

</Menubar>

If this is the case, check your $KDEHOME/share/apps/kdevcppsupportpart/ for
the kdevcppsupportpart.rc file. If there is one, delete it.

Then start gideon again.

Please report back, and if this doesn't solve your problem, a backtrace would be
good. :)

$KDEDIR == where your kde installation is
$KDEHOME == where your kde settings dir is, commonly ~/.kde

Well, I was asked to do that before and then I still had the bug. So I
re-reported.
I've now reupdated, at about 1:30am GMT on 26-08-03, and I can close
projects
OK now. But see bug 63263 ... I cannot create a NEW project ... :-(

OK, one thing at the time.. ;)

Closing.
