Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.1.3)
Installed from:    Mandrake RPMs
OS:          Linux

Please have noatun display the file name or stream file/info when recieved. Currently Noatun only displays this information after the play button has been pressed.

I would ask that when playing streams, that buffering and related stats be displayed so the user knows that noatun is actually doing something. Otherwise the user has to watch net traffic inorder to see whats going on and if there are any problems downloading the stream. 

A thought: Blinking "--:--" in the track time box could show that stream is unreachable

This is a quite annoying thing when you can't connect, I know. I think this deserves being called minor. Rival xmms displays something ;)

Due to arts having no API for this I don't see a way to implement it.

Is possible to add the APIs needed to arts during the
next development cycle? How well does arts handle
streams?

Now what is something? Of course I can stop playing and annoy users with KMessageboxes for all kinds of stream problems but most of the time they just want to hear the next song (compare to "file not found", it'll just skip over).
Eventually this could be resolved through using KNotify but I won't add such a feature so close before a release (wouldn't be allowed to add it anyway).

Bug #71666 is not about displaying data, its about not timing out based on streams.  I doubt its the same bug...

noatun has not been part of the KDE 4 release and is no longer maintained.

KDE now offers Dragon as a video player and JuK as a music player. Additionally, other popular KDE players have been ported to KDE 4, such as Amarok or Kaffeine.

If this issue is still applicable to KDE 4 applications, please add a comment or file a new report.
