I think that you should be able to set an image as the desktop background in the right click context menu of konqueror. A bit like when you drag an image onto the desktop, only without the dragging ;)

I second that. Would be a nice feature.
The biggest question as I see it is where to store the image. I would personally find it logical to store it somewhere beneath ~/.kde/ somewhere.

Konqueror 3.4 has actions->set as background in RMB menu.
