Description Kerry Taylor 2003-07-02 23:00:52 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
OS: Linux

At work I use Outlook, and can automatically append signature files (name, phone number, etc.) with formatted text (ie: bold, italic) along with html or jpg files. I cannot see a feature in kmail where this can be accomplished, and have not found any reference to this in the documentation. I would like to see this in Kmail, since I use it for my home business. Thanks.

Hello,

KMail does not (yet) support writing HTML mails. That is, however, being worked
on and should be present in the upcoming 1.6 release (with KDE 3.2).

If I understand you correctly, you want to configure KMail to automatically attach a
file to any outgoing e-mails, is that it?

Subject: Re: Would like to be able to create custom signature files, ie: formatted text with .jpg, as automatic attachment to all emails.

I believe it is an attachment. In Outlook the 'signature file' appears
whenever you open a new message. It appears several lines below where you
would start typing your message. Typically it does not appear when you
select 'Reply', though you can insert it from the menu if desired. Evolution
has the same thing. Kmail's is very much the same though it is text only.
I can only tell you how I use it, so if I haven't answered your question
please have a look at the implementation in Evolution or Outlook. Thanks.

Since we are several versions from when this wish was reported, can you please try with a recent version that does do HTML emails and a lot more and report back if this issue still persists.

Thanks in advance

I am using KMail 1.8.2, from KDE 3.4.2 level b (basically what SuSE 10 ships with) and confirm that it is still not possible to use HTML signatures and/or with attached .jpg files.

HTML signatures are implemented in a separate branch by now, but there are some quirks which stops us from merging it with the main branch.

Closing this bug, since HTML signatures and multiple signatures are covered in other bugs:
