You can drag to the taskbar and the application whose button you're hovering over will be raised. The same should happen as well for the desktops in the minipager applet. Does this help you? Yeah, that does help me out. I was unaware of that. It would be nice if its possible to drag it directly onto the app (even just onto the titlebar), as the taskbar can have the same clutteredness.
