Description andreaswieland 2003-06-19 13:18:56 UTC
Version: 4.0 (using KDE 3.1.0)
Installed from: SuSE
Compiler: gcc version 3.2
OS: Linux (i586) release 2.4.19-4GB

The character is used to show a browser where it can put a new line within a word using a "-" at the end of a line.

For instance there is a word "veryverylonglongword". When you use it in a justified text f. i. the result could be very strange: Either very wide spaces or the word is in a new line.

When using
... text text text veryverylonglongword text text text ...
the browser knows when it is allowed to separate the word. The result could be:

   ... text text tex veryverylong-
   longword text text text ...

Best regards
