Description mutlaqja 2003-06-02 16:34:24 UTC
Version: v0.8.3 (using KDE KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I'm a user of DirecPC satellite network and I suffer from constant stalls during my downloads. The download speed can get as high as 60 KB/S and after 10-20 seconds, I drops to 0 and it reports "Stall". I used to have to press cancel, and click on the link again, and press resume and I did that 10-20 times for each download, even if small downloads.

I then tried KGet and it partially solved the problem in the sense that I don't have to manually cancel, and then resume. But there is still a LOT of delay. I'd like KGet to stop the current connection and resume if the user specifies a lower limit.

For example, if the speed drops below 1 KB/S, then KGet stops downloading, reconnects and resumes. As of current, my download drops to 0 B/s and it stays there for a minute or two before resuming.

I can't change the "Reconnect After" to less than 1 minute. I also can't change anything "Timeout options" as line edits are disabled.

The only way to get it working now is for me to MANUALLY pause, then resume. It would be very much appreciated if it does that when the speed drop below a user-specified critical level. Thank you for this great software!

The scheduler takes care of that. I.e. if the download is stalled (did not receive any data over some time) it will reconnect.
