well, what says it should? I really don't think this is a wishlist item; it's much more of a bug. Perhaps HTTP URLs and other types should be separated? The reason I submitted this was because a co-worker pointed it out to me. He has shortcuts to LAN resources (fish, SMB) on his desktop, but they are not browsable through the file dialog, despite the presence of the "Network" icon that has been added on the left. To me, the new Network functionality implies that network shortcuts should work. Replaced bknotts@europa.com with null@kde.org due to bounces by reporter you can never know if a .desktop points to a file or a directory, so I consider this unfixable Of course this is a bug. If the design of the .desktop links makes it impossible to implement, then maybe the design of .desktop link is broken. It should definitely be possible to follow .desktop links through the Open dialog. Please reopen this bug. |
