Not sure if this is the module for this type of problem or if it's somewhere else ...

Recently, maybe right around the time when MMX support was added to kdefx, all menu's (application or the 'K' menu) flicker / redraw very badly when moving the mouse over an entry that requires a submenu to expand. Normal entries do not cause the entire menu to redraw.  While I only have a PIII 500Mhz I did not notice this problem before.  Could it be a performance problem caused by the new vFolder access somehow, a genuine extra redraw call, or something else?  Btw, this happens when I use the nVidia drivers and when I do not (although I could retest this as it's been a while)

Can you please try putting the following into your ~/.qt/kstylerc, into the  
[Settings] section: 
 
SloppySubMenus=false 
 
Restart kicker (dcop kicker Panel restart) and see whether it gets better

Yes, this indeed works. I tried this after a full restart of KDE.  Although it does seem (ever 
so slightly though ;) to be a tad bit more CPU intensive but I'd much rather take that over 
an ugly flickering. 
 
Leaving the bug opened for those who know more about the issue to decide the right 
course of action

The default has been toggled in KStyle by clee on 2003/06/06
