Yes, this is a most uninformative error message. at the very least, the error should say something like: "This page is unavailable in offline browsing mode." and then offer some choices: Stay offline Switch to online maybe a third to fetch the page but stay offline, probly unnecessary. A possible supplement would be to make offline mode non-persistant between sessions, but the above would be much less contraversial, and would be an easy fix. I think that a great many new users probably encounter this problem, but don't feel empowered to report it. This bug is still present in 3.3.1. Needs some attention. Canned answer: So get off your ass and fix it then, Eric. > 20:58 ------- This bug is still present in 3.3.1. Needs some attention.

Even if adressed still be visible up to 3.4 (string changes). I know
some people think IE verbosity is funny but it gives some hints valuable
for non-power users. Bah. I found it useful when I was starting using
the Web.
Maybe Konq could have similar message:
-----------------------------------------
Page www.asdf.com isn't accessible.
Possible causes:
- you are not connected to the Web
- you are in off-line mode. Check it <how>[1], and change <how>
- page is temporary down. Try <address> in a while.
- your ISP has problems. Try to contact them.
-----------------------------------------
Anything else?
Details should be consulted with native speakers (;) and kde-usability
(wording, wording).
Probably coolo would be against it but I think such message could be
inserted even in 3.3.x line.
[1] somewhere is my wish changing on-off status in status line...
I would close it only with info about status.
