Hi,
I would appreciate the possibility to choose the output mode (oss, alsa, arts), like xmms has. As I know, people usually do not use noatun because of arts.

This is impossible because Noatun is just a front end to arts, and arts is used  
for MP3 decoding an so on. 
 
Without arts, noatun can't do anything.
