Version:           2.0.0 (using KDE KDE 3.0.5)
Installed from:    RedHat RPMs
Compiler:          3.2 20020903 Configured with: ../configure --prefix=/usr --mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info --enable-shared --enable-threads=posix --disable-checking --host=i386-redhat-linux --with-system-zlib --enable-__cxa_atexit
OS:          Linux

In redhat 8.0 notun does not play my mp3s. Redhat people say its due to some patent problem. It has done the same with xmms but I downloaded the latest version of xmms and it now does play my mp3s. I did the same for noatun but it didn't do what was expected i.e. play my mp3s. I got the rpm of noatun from redhat site ,may be this is a reason that it didn't allow playing mp3s but noatun.kde.org doesn't provide any source code/rpm. If any other source for rpm/source code is available where notun plays the mp3s plz tell. I also the last bug related to same problem on Mandrake but there no solution was provided. Kindly provide a solution so that I can play my mp3s in KDE's own media player - Noatun.

It was redhat's decision to disable mp3 support in the packages they build/distribute.  You're 
free to download and rebuild the kdemultimedia package as distributed by kde.org and/or use 
the mp3-enabled packages available from http://kde-redhat.sf.net/

Packaging problem. Bring it to Red Hat, but I doubt they can/will change their policy 
towards MP3. 
 
To rebuild KDE with MP3 support, download the source code from ftp.kde.org.

Thanx Dieter for the prompt reply, I too know that it was redhat's
decision to disable mp3 support but was unable to locate the src of
kde-multimedia from any other source other than redhat servers (at
least google and yahoo along with rpmfind told me so). I searched the
sourceforge too for noatun but it said its not in its developement
project list. Hence I contacted bugs.kde.
  I am going through the site u have mentioned and I hope it will
answer my needs.
