I saw something similar once (don't remember if it was in Quanta or Gideon - both are using the same Kate editor), but restarting the application helped. The problem with this bug is that I have no idea what's going on, and I cannot find a way to reproduce it. I also suspect that it can be a packaging/compilation bug. Is it possible to download the sourcecode and compile it without extreme optimization flags? (max -O2) I would like to see if the problem disappears in this case or not. Yes, please tell there that somebody with problems should try with self
compiled Quanta instead of using binaries, and inform me about success or
failure.
