Konsole has an option to "Show size when resizing".  It did once in distant past (can't remember version numbers) show size _while_ resizing, now it shows the size only _after_ resizing.  I find the former much more usable than the latter.

Sure that it did? Perhaps you had the "Display content in resizing windows" option 
once enabled and now not anymore?

That solved it.  I would never have come to see the logic, though.
