After I'm done playing a video (VOB files, in this case), xine-arts always locks up arts.  I have to kill it to use noatun or kaboodle again.

that's with both 1.0 beta7, and a recent cvs snap.

I've seen this happen several times with the newest Xine on KDE 3.2.1. I can't say if the fault is with Xine or KDE, but arts breaks down completely. I can't say if my error is exactly the same as the OP's.
