It seems that people has to change their habits instead of KMail changing its policy about focus and this big annoyance about up/down key navigation through mails. I (and everyone who uses or has used outlook/evolution) move up or down through the list of mails and select them in combination with the shift key. (I have already read the mail about the non-focused approach.) Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented. Thank you for your understanding.
