Description Aaron Williams 2003-02-06 07:55:01 UTC
Version: 2.2.1 (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 2.95.3 sparc solaris 2.7
OS: Solaris

Sometimes KDE gets into a state where when I log in it automatically starts playing from my
playlist where I left off. Noatun is not running. If I kill artsd then the music stops for a few seconds but then artsd restarts and continues playing the next file in the playlist.

If I start up noatun and play a song then the currently playing song and the new song are mixed together. The only way I can stop the background music is to issue

pkill artsd && eject

since the songs are on a CDROM. I have tried deleting the playlist file but that doesn't seem to help.

I am running KDE 3.1 compiled from sources.

This may be related to bug 53001.

Note that all of my songs are in ogg format :)

I don't know if this bug should be filed under noatun or artsd.

Could it be that your noatun is running but without visible Gui (you probably disabled the
systray-plugin)?

I get the same, that after session-restore noatun is playing but only the systray-icon shows up.
A simple click on this brings noatun in all its beauty.

Subject: Re: arts automatically playing from playlist but noatun
 not running, cannot stop!

I have the systray plugin enabled and it is not present when the problem
occurs. As soon as I start up noatun the systray icon appears.
Selecting stop in either the noatun gui or the systray has no effect on
the music playing. As far as noatun is concerned it thinks nothing is
playing. I can kill noatun with no effect on the music playing. The
only effect I can make is if I kill artsd. If I kill artsd then the
music stops for a few seconds, then artsd automatically restarts and the
music resumes at the next song in the playlist I was last listening to.

If nobody can reproduce this I think this bug should be closed.
Current Noatun always makes sure at least one GUI plugin is loaded so I doubt this can happen again.
