If you use the output of an external file as your signature, kamil creates an unnecessary empty line below the output of the script in the mail.
The output of the script itself doesn't contain an empty line (if it does contain an empty line at the end, two empty lines appear in the mail).
kmail doesn't append an empty line if you put your signature into the "input field below".
I don't know what causes this empty line, but it's IMHO not necessary and just makes the message one line longer.

With KMail 1.5 (KDE 3.1) no empty line is added after the signature. 
Also the code looks correct. Therefore I close this bug report as this 
bug has apparently vanished. Anyway, thanks for reporting.

Just installed KDE 3.1.0 and I still see that empty line after the signature (using the 
ouput of a command that doesn't contain an empty line). 
It's only visible if you take a look at the message-source or save it to disk and have 
a look with vi/$whatever.

Still (again) happens in KDE3.3

And gone again in kde 3.4, this seems to define a "heisenbug"
