Hi, Like Jaime suggested, it would be a GREAT "stability" & "portability" improvement ! As he said, when it comes to reproduce filtering settings on several boxes with 50+ filters... man that gets me mad ! ;) Think aswell to people using alternatively a workstation at home/work & a laptop when they have to move... Finally, it happens (sadly) that kde &/or X crash and that I loose all my kmail configuration !!! Filters, identities, accounts... all lost except the messages... and there you go for a half day reconfiguration party ! So, dealing with saving filters, may I suggest to GROUP all the CONFIG DATAs in one config file (or a small set, say kmailrc, kmail.filters, & eventually 1 or 2 others) holding everything so that crash recovery & scratch setup should be SO EASIER & FASTER. Best regards a thanks for all Tarax save filters in a separate file - XML maybe - this decreases risk of data loss, too thanks :( Filters are saved in (usually) $HOME/.kde/share/config/kmailrc - you can copy them from config file to config file. However note, that e.g. external filter executables or target folders don't need to exist on another account. That's the reason why I think that a plain "save into file" doesn't make sense. More specialized cases can be implemented using the above mentioned file though. Please consider closing this wish. |
