SUMMARY

terminals have configurable transparency. This applet is either clear or too dark. No mouse over option. can transparency be configurable?

Are we stuck with too light and too dark?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. use the widget
2. use the composite background.. too dark for a GIF background that is changing
3. use the clear background.... to light for a GIF background that is changing

OBSERVED RESULT

I want a readable weather report, but no option is great if I have an animated background with multiple colours

EXPECTED RESULT

readable weather report. I want to see the weather and background, together.

make the transparency configurable like most things (every terminal for as long as I can remember). then the background can be made dark enough to blur the background, but not obscure the animated backgrounds.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: been a long time
macOS: rarely
(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)
Linux/KDE Plasma: all of them
KDE Plasma Version: current
KDE Frameworks Version: current
Qt Version: current

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Like most, I have windows open which cover the desktop usually. When I look at a blank desktop to see the widgets I have there (like the weather) I cannot control what frame of animation is playing. Is it light? Is it dark? I want both the background and widget to be visible. The widget has 2 settings "All" or "Nothing".

If you say no to adding the option to configure it I wont send in another bug report about how I would like to see the weather, but not have it take over the background. I will give up and just make the best of it, maybe just use a website in a web browser or something.

Thanks for making the widget, I just want it to be able to be visible and not obscure/overwhelm the background.

We're not adding per widget customisation. The UX cost wouldn't be worth it.

You may find other themes fit your setup better as the transparency is configurable within the theme.
