Description dougg0k 2026-02-06 15:53:56 UTC
SUMMARY
It's a bug that happened before but I am not sure why, I clicked on the dolphin file manager and screen went black for any monitors, only fix was hard reboot through button. Very rare and random.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click on Dolphin to open

OBSERVED RESULT
The desktop was still working, as I was able to close a browser that was playing a song with alt+f4, but that is the only thing I was able to do before the restart.

EXPECTED RESULT
Work as expected.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.22.0
Qt Version: 6.10.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Not sure these contain the cause of the issue. It was after the reboot. https://pastebin.com/45cCCpss

I've now setup journalctl properly, if happens again, it should have the previous boot log.

Thanks for the bug report and the detailed logs. It sounds like kwin crashed or ran into an error condition.

From what I see, there may be a system level issue. It looks like a number of services may be misconfigured. These parts of the log are what leads me to think that:

fev 06 12:44:58 desktop-pc dbus-broker-launch[3017]: Service file '/usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.kde.dolphin.FileManager1.service' is not named after the D-Bus name 'org.freedesktop.FileManager1'.

You didn't mention which distro you have installed, but I recommend reaching out to their support channels to get your system in a good state first. If you continue to have problems after that, take a look at the Crashed Process Viewer and see if there are entries for kwin. If so we would need a backtrace of the crash. Thanks!

I also enabled / configured the coredump in case it helps.

I'm not sure if it's related to nvidia or not. But will share the only things that could make some sense in wayland.
