Screenshot of htop during the copy job

Created attachment 188623 [details] Screenshot of htop during the copy job SUMMARY While I was copying roughly 2000 24 Megapixel JPEGs and RAWs from a CF-Card to the local SSD. the system slowed down so much, that I could no longer interact with Plasma's panel. htop showed up to 16 processes of kioworker generating thumbnails, while up to ~5 workers had relatively high CPU usage. Please see the screenshot. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Dolphin 2. Split view: Source folder on the CF-Card (connected via USB 3.0), destination folder in home directory (btrfs, ssd) 3. Previews enabled 4. Copy/Move files from A to B OBSERVED RESULT The system becomes pretty unusable during the copy job. EXPECTED RESULT The system stays responsive SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 43 KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.22.0 Qt Version: 6.10.1 Kernel Version: 6.18.5-200.fc43.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U with Radeon Graphics Memory: 16 GiB of RAM (14.4 GiB usable) Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon Graphics System Version: ThinkPad X13 Gen 2a
