touching points of panels

i have a side panel and a top panel and a bottom panel.

all are set to:
- alignment: center
- height/width: fill height/width
- visibility: always visible
- opacity: opaque
- floating: applets only (so the panels themselves are not floating)

while the contact point of the top panel and the side panel looks perfectly fine, the contact point of the side panel and the bottom panel has some issues:
1. the edge of the side panel is rounded which should definitely not be the case
2. the side panel draws its shadow over the bottom panel, which looks ugly.

i have attached a screenshot.
