Description Felix Meuer 2025-12-09 15:39:13 UTC
SUMMARY
A kwin plugin (showfps) which I have activated previously is not showing up anymore in the list of desktop effects.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Open System Settings
2. Go to Window Management
3. Go to Desktop Effects

Specifically the plugin in question is 'showfps' and 'showcompositing'.
From my kwinrc:
'''
[Plugins]
showcompositingEnabled=true
showfpsEnabled=true
'''

OBSERVED RESULT
The option to enable/disable is missing.

EXPECTED RESULT
I believe this option was previously listed under the 'Appearence' tab.

Still this was a problem for me, since I could not disable this plugin and had to search for the correct config file to disable it.

This is considered an "internal" plugin and was moved to the KWin debug console. You can find it by searching for "kwin debug" in KRunner, Kickoff, Overview, or any KRunner-powered global search.
