Description Paul Brown 2025-12-08 11:31:02 UTC
SUMMARY

Spectacle does not record videos on NVIDIA powered hardware on the latest few KDE Linux versions.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Record a screencast using Spectacle
2. Finish the recording

OBSERVED RESULT

Spectacle creates a file with the correct extension, but that just contains a few bytes of header information and no actual video.

EXPECTED RESULT

A complete video file.

This looks bad.

Do you folks need any more info or have any advice? I received a message saying that it will be closed in 30 days if I do not provide more info, but I do not know what info you folks need.

Nobody has confirmed this bug. Does that mean it is only affecting machine, i.e. it is not a bug at all but really defective hardware? Everything else seems to be working fine.
