Description Stefan Suurmeijer 2002-11-28 18:12:40 UTC
Version: 1.4.3 (using KDE KDE 3.0.4)
Installed from: SuSE RPMsSuSE
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.18-4GB

It seems that every time a new mail arrives in an imap folder, kmail re-reads the entire folder. On large folders, this can take >10 seconds. I have a lot of big folders (5,000+ mails) that receive new mails regularly, so effectively, almost every time I switch between folders I have to read approximately 10-15 seconds until the entire folder is re-read.
It would be nice if kmail read the folder just once, at startup, and then added new mail to an index or something without re-reading.

same problem with KMail 1.5 / KDE 3.1

I believe this is fixed. Switching between folders results in a very small delay for me having thousands of mails. That time is probably needed to recreate the Qt ListView
