Description Eamonn Rea 2025-12-02 19:12:45 UTC
SUMMARY
Images copied from Firefox no longer appear in this Clipboard Popup. Images can still be pasted successfully, they just do not display in the Clipboard Popup.

I am unsure if this is a Firefox bug or a Plasma bug. This used to work previously but I noticed it no longer works. This happens with images copied from web pages, but also with Firefox's screenshot feature.

While I am reporting this as a Firefox bug, it also affects the primary fork of Firefox that I use called LibreWolf.

This does not happen with Ungoogled Chromium (the only Chromium-based Browser I have installed), or Electron applications.

I am using the native Wayland version of both Firefox and LibreWolf, both 145.0.2, installed from the Arch repos and AUR respectively.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Firefox.
2. Navigate to a website with an image.
3. Attempt to copy that image.
4. Open the Clipboard Popup.
5. The copied image is not present, but can still be pasted into other applications.

OBSERVED RESULT
Images copied from Firefox do not display in the Clipboard Popup.

EXPECTED RESULT
Images copied from Firefox should display in the Clipboard Popup.

I can't reproduce this with current git master and default clipboard settings. Are you using any non-default clipboard settings, by chance?

I don't believe so, I was not sure where to even find the Clipboard Settings. I found some settings by right-clicking on the Clipboard icon in the System Tray, but I have not toggled any of these.

I tested on my laptop running the same version of endeavourOS and KDE Plasma as my desktop PC that I noticed this bug with, and the same thing happens.

Perhaps this is a bug that has already been fixed for an upcoming Plasma version then if it can't be reproduced on the latest git :-) This is good because as a small addendum, the same thing has begun happening with Chromium-based browsers and applications as of updating to Plasma 6.5.4 (I can make a separate filing for this though - tested with Discord Flatpak configured to use Wayland, and Ungoogled Chromium Flatpak).

LibreWolf Not Displaying Copied Image on Clipboard Popup

Here is a video outlining the problem. I recorded myself attempting to copy an image with LibreWolf from the KDE homepage (https://kde.org/). The image can be pasted successfully, it is on the clipboard, but it does not show up in the clipboard.

Here is a list of applications that I can see the issue in so far as of updating to Plasma 6.5.4. Note that all of these applications are either using Wayland by default or have been configured to use Wayland with commandline options (Discord, Signal).
- LibreWolf, fork of Firefox (installed from AUR)
- Firefox (installed from Arch repos)
- Ungoogled Chromium (installed via Flatpak)
- Discord, Electron-based application (installed via Flatpak)
- Signal, Electron-based application (installed from Arch repos)
- VSCodium, Electron-based application (installed via AUR)

In every instance, the image itself *is* copied to the clipboard, it just does not display the image in the Clipboard Popup.

Please let me know if I can provide any further information :-) Thank you!

Thanks. It would be helpful to know if the issue happens in a new clean user account with no configuration changes.
