What's about fullscreen mode of editor like M$ Visual Studio 6,7
I haven't found such feature in kdevelop and that would be very comfortable one

In IDEA mode of Gideon all the panels do "Auto hide" so you get something similar 
to want you asked for.

Yeah, IDEAl mode, turn off toolbars and status bar.  This is as close to full screen mode as 
you can get, and it's pretty good (IMHO).
