Sentry Crash Report:

Description Daniel Carter 2002-11-27 12:36:37 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.0.3)
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
OS: Linux

By default KMail starts with the folders inbox, outbox, sent-mail, trash, and drafts.

I don't use any of these folders and they are cluttering up my tree view.

However the Folder/Remove menu entry does not work for these folders.
Comment 1 Ingo Klöcker 2002-11-27 15:35:09 UTC
The local standard folders must not be deleted. That's no bug. At some point in the future we
might allow removing them.
Comment 2 Daniel Carter 2002-11-27 23:01:33 UTC
OK, yes it would be very nice if they could be removed in a future version.

I have a number of imap accounts, so the local folders are very annoying using
up all the space at the top of the tree view.

The inbox receives no incoming mail, the sent-mail saves no outgoing mail, the
trash does not contain the trash, and drafts are not saved in the drafts
folder. I use IMAP folders for all these.

Cheers.

Concerning the space you can upgrade to 3.1. Then you have the possibility to collapse
the local tree if you set your startup-folder to an imap-folder. But this feature is hidden
(will be fully implemented in 3.2): Add an entry startupFolder to the General section of
your kmailrc that points to the full path of your folder. E.g. my entry is
"startupFolder=.server.directory/INBOX" where server is my account-name.

I totally agree with Daniel,

The local mail folders serve no purpose to me.
I'd suggest to start with no folders at all
and treat every new folder, using either IMAP,
Pop3, local mail or whatever, in a similar way.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.
Comment 7 Luigi Toscano 2012-08-19 01:06:59 UTC
Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
