SUMMARY

Graphics tablet stylus seems to have difficulty triggering the Start Button (kickoff widget). In the beginning of every new session, I can't click to trigger the Start Button with a stylus unless I repeatedly click on it for may times (sometimes even that wouldn't work). And once triggered, I can click it in the rest of the session.

I have tested this with Wacom/Huion/XP-Pen tablets and displays, both linuxwacom and opentabletdriver, all failed to work. So it's hardware/driver unrelated.

This issue existed since Plasma 6 came out, as far as I can remember.

Similar problem happens to the Apply Global Theme popup dialogue in systemsettings.

Seems to only affect X11 sessions.
Comment 2 Tyson Tan 2025-11-23 02:48:58 UTC
I noticed that in some X11 sessions, the stylus's middle button wouldn't work on certain elements after login.

On desktop, there was a time today when I couldn't middle-click to create a sticker note. After clicking repeatedly, it finally registered, resulting in multiple sticker notes being created at once as if previous clicks were queued.

In Chromium, there was one occasion today that I could use my stylus to middle-click the Tab bar to close a tab, but couldn't open a bookmark in a new tab with middle-click. I then gave up and go to test things on the desktop instead, as aforementioned. When middle-click finally worked again on desktop, I found it now also worked in Chromium. This suggests an issue on the system side, perhaps "holding up stylus middle-clicks until they got released".
