Description lolwutfordawin 2025-11-22 13:47:04 UTC
SUMMARY

The shutdown timer continues running after waking from standby in the lock screen, if the display is closed. This causes unexpected / confusing shut down as soon as laptop is used next.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click Shut Down in application launcher
2. With shut down timer running close laptop lid
3. System enters standby
4. Open lid / wake system
5. Timer runs out even from locked screen
6. System shuts down from lock screen

OBSERVED RESULT

System enters stand by, shuts down after waking

EXPECTED RESULT

Treat lid closed as aknoledgment of shut down action, system shuts down after closing lid; either stop system from entering standby for duration of timer and shutting down after, or cancelling timer and shutting down immediately.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Alexander 2025-11-22 15:33:57 UTC
I can reproduce this issue. The running timer behind the lock screen leads to confusing behavior for users.
Treat the closed laptop as acknowledgment for shut down is probably best.
