I installed Redhat 8.0 on my machine and when I now use konsole there are problems of displaying the man pages correctly. E.g. "-" is displayed as a rectangle. I tried different fonts (Settings->Font), but this does not resolve the problem. I only encounter this type of font problem when using the man pages "e.g. man ls". Under Redhat 7.x is was working fine. The gnome-terminal is also working fine under Redhat 8.0 and therefore I believe this must be konsole problem. I use konsole version 1.1.3.

I had the same problem. I have found out that was not a problem of Konsole, 
neither of KDE, even if for Konsole it was a worse situation. The problem of 
the - sign was present even in a xterm windows in a failsafe envirorment.

You have to change the LANG variable set in /etc/sysconfig/i18n not to use the 
new type of font but the old ISO one
The LANG variable should be set to something like en_US

After that, in my case, problem in Konsole persisted. I have to change the font 
to solve the problem for this application.
