notice the sidebar?

At the moment when you go to pick a directory to save a file, or go to pick a file when using a GTK app, the dialog that opens just dumps the user in their home folder with no indication as to how to access their mounted drives.
This is handled automatically when using QT apps on Plasma and GTK apps on GNOME but for new users it just seems like auxiliary drives like removable media and other attached internal drives just don't work when using something like Lutris for example. This is terrible for user experience, especially for new-to-linux users who just expect their mounts to show up consistently across all applications on a DE, and it feels awkward trying to explain how something this critical isn't handled automatically without explaining technical differences between the two toolkits.

I have attached an image showcasing what I mean, it would make life easier for many existing and new users alike.
