Description yhl3051 2025-11-08 12:52:29 UTC
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Issue 1 - Manual sorting allows dragging:
1. Right-click Icons-Only Task Manager → Configure Icons-Only Task Manager
2. Behavior → Sorting → Select "Manual"
3. Pin several applications to the taskbar
4. Try to drag a pinned icon to a different position

Issue 2 - Non-manual sorting modes cause position shifting:
1. Right-click Icons-Only Task Manager → Configure Icons-Only Task Manager
2. Behavior → Sorting → Select "Alphabetically" (or "Do not Sort")
3. Pin several applications that are not currently open
4. Click to open one of the pinned applications

OBSERVED RESULT
Issue 1: With "Manual" sorting, icons can be accidentally dragged and reordered
Issue 2: With "Alphabetically" or "Do not Sort", when a pinned application is opened, the icon shifts position (with "Do not Sort" specifically jumping to the rightmost position)

EXPECTED RESULT
Issue 1: There should be an option to lock icon positions in Manual mode to prevent accidental dragging while maintaining custom order
Issue 2: Icons should remain in their pinned positions when opened, regardless of sorting mode

Thanks for the bug report. For things to be actionable, we require there be only one issue per report. Please open a new report for Issue 2 with non-manual sorting.

For Issue 1, this appears to be the expected behavior, which I understand differs from how it was in Plasma 5. There is not (currently) the ability to lock the positions that I know of. I'll update this to "wishlist" and the developers can consider (re)adding the ability to lock / unlock the icons as a feature request.
