Description kde-apps.org 2025-11-07 10:48:00 UTC
SUMMARY
Face boxes on already processed pictures are moved to the upper left corner, effectively losing the content. In affected photos, all face boxes end up in the upper left corner. Preview images are reduced to a narrow bar. No user action involved.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
App images of Digikam version 8.6 and up; also dockerized versions 8.7 and 8.8m all running on Debian Bookworm

This problem has never been reported before, and I can't think of a possible cause. If the metadata is being written into the images, please upload a sample image with these coordinates.

Sadly I have no sample at the moment as this happens randomly and not all the time. All data is stored IN the image file, no sidecar files are used. I will get back as soon as the problem shows up again. I don't think this ever happened with Version <8.6.

I still have no file I can post for demonstration purposes but I have one more info that might be helpful. I am using the "write metadata to image" option (rather that a sidecar file), and this is supposed to alter the file's timestamp every time data is changed. The affected files however retain their timestamp, so it appears that any data like face coords has in fact never been written to the image. Still I can see facemarks in the picture - all in the upper left corner.
