A video showing the behavior in question.

Hello! Couldn't reproduce it on Neon. Perhaps it is an Arch issue? I'll ask around. I could repro this with the same software versions as OP. Tried Focus Stealing Prevention set to "None", "Medium" and "Extreme". No difference there. Hopefully I find time later to retry with the development versions (It might very well be already fixed there). Also reproducable on git-master (workspace and kdenlive) Cannot reproduce with Flatpak or appimage (versions 25.08.2 and .3) on Pop!_OS Created attachment 186598 [details]
The bug also happens with other programs
I can confirm the bug on two separate systems with Arch Linux. Parent window of the tooltip is raised (but not focused) without mouse click regardless of focus stealing prevention and other focus options.
From my quick testing it also affects tooltips from other programs:
- Gimp, Brave and Gqrx are raised when tooltip appears,
- KDE Info Centre, KOrganizer, System Settings and Fldigi show tooltips but are not raised,
- Okular, Audacious (QT Gui) and Firefox does not show tooltips when not focused,
- Dear ImGui apps show tooltips but the window is not raised,
Interestingly, when not focused Dolphin does not show tooltips for UI elements, but file information is displayed on hover and raises the whole Dolphin window.
I noticed strange tooltip behavior since Plasma 6.5 update and I think it might be related to changes to focus stealing prevention.
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.19.0
KDE Applications Version: 25.08.3
Qt Version: 6.10.0
Graphics Platform: Wayland
It seems this was a bug of KDE in general, and it may have already been fixed. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=511631 I'll try updating and restarting, and report back. Upgraded to Plasma 6.5.2, and the issue is still here. But I realize I misread the blog and it's actually coming in 6.5.3. I forgot to update, the bug is fixed now with all the new versions (now on kdenlive 25.12.1 and plasma 6.5.5) |
Created attachment 186564 [details] A video showing the behavior in question. SUMMARY For whatever reason, when hovering over an area in the mixer component that gives a tooltip, the entire window gets pushed to the front, even if focus is on another window placed over it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Kdenlive and maximize it. 2. Open another program with a smaller window (e.g. Dolphin) and place it over Kdenlive. 3. Hover over a button in the audio mixer such as the Master Fader so that a tooltip appears. OBSERVED RESULT Kdenlive's window gets pushed to the front, over the focused, smaller window, yet neither does Kdenlive itself get focused. EXPECTED RESULT No tooltip should appear, as focus is not on Kdenlive, and if one should appear, it should at least not push the entire window to the front, blocking other windows.
