SUMMARY
Similar to version 8.7.0 the program won't launch and gets stuck at Loading Tools.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install program and try to run for the first time.

OBSERVED RESULT
Version 8.6.0 worked fine on my computer. I had difficulty with any version of 8.7.0 that failed to launch. Eventually, development version digiKam-8.8.0-20250928T170145-Qt6-Win64 launched successfully. I've since tried to install the release version of 8.8.0 and it too got stuck on the Loading Tools. Further, unlike with 8.7.0 where I could go back to 8.6.0, even that option is no longer available and it too is stuck at Loading Tools.

If there are any tests or diganosis or debug logs that I could create that would help, please let me know. As of now, I can't use the program at all.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: Windows 11. Under 25H2 and the previous update. I updated my system only after I first had a problem with 8.8.0

Please create a DebugView log from the start of digiKam as described here:

Thank you. That was enough to point out the problem. The program was getting stuck in a directory where I had some images that had file names starting with an underscore (_). Removing/renaming those files resolved the problem.
