Thanks for the bug report, and the screen recording. I see what you're describing.

In the video:
Panel is on the left side, auto-hide, fill space
He is trying to drag a text file onto the panel

It looks like at first, the cursor switches to "disabled", as it's over the edge of the screen
It then switches to "enabled", and remains so no matter where on the panel it is positioned
I can reproduce this behavior on git-master

I see that after moving the cursor away from the edge, the entire panel *is* intractable. I was able to drag a text file over the Firefox icon and open it with Firefox.
My question for you is - was there something you were trying to do that you were prevented from doing?

I was organizing files on that corner when I noticed it the files went right through.

It helped me a lot actually, but its inconsistency gives away that it's a bug.

I'm still not clear about what this prevented you from doing?
Comment 4 Fernando Marcelino Muniz 2025-10-28 14:32:58 UTC
I didn't prevent me from doing anything. What I'm reporting is the the Panel is half its actual size when an item is being dragged.

This might affect people dragging a shortcut from the desktop into the Panel.

This might be a design limitation. As I said, after moving the mouse around, I was able to see the active mouse cursor on the entire panel surface. Developers with more insight into the panel will have to weigh in from here.

Can also reproduce. It's not related to being floating vs attached.
