Description erik.koennecke@gmail.com 2025-10-24 10:19:14 UTC
SUMMARY

When trying to install fonts from samba shares, font manager can open share, go to the relevant directory and select the font, but installation fails with "The file 'smb://user@sambashare.local/fontname.ttf" could not be found'. File location is in `smb://user@sambashare.local/directory/fontname.ttf`, though.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open System Settings --> Font Manager
2. Use button "Install font..."
3. Navigate to file location on a samba share, including opening network, password entry etc.

OBSERVED RESULT
Opening fails with error message above

EXPECTED RESULT
Font manager opens file and installs font, as it does with the same font when using a local location.
