1.Image Quality scan& Rating, 2Rating only

1. starting digiKam-8.8.0-Qt6-x86-64.appimage
2. Scan for new items at start up, all good Thumbnails & Preview
3. Select all 
4. RM + Image Quality scan
5. All Images get Flags from yellow/red/green
6. the Thumbnails View show Details like before Step 4 but now when im switch to Preview
 the big picture are showing blurry like some Unsharp mask 

Raw Files from OM Systems MFT: .ORF / .ORI 

closed and opend it with digiKam-8.7.0-Qt6-x86-64.appimage
same problem looks like No. 6

7. tryd some other pictures with Rating Filter, gave them 1 Star
after that switching Thumbnails & Preview No. 6 again

found no way to undo
if you need screenshot or Files, i’m happy to help (RawFiles 20-50MB)

System:
Linux Mint 21.3
Cinnamon 6.0.4
Qt version 5.15.3 in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu

This has nothing to do with the quality scan. You're probably using the quick preview, which uses an embedded preview in the image.
Go to the digiKam settings under View -> Preview and select the full image as the preview (automatic).

It's also conceivable that the quality scan results in a reduced preview in the cache that is displayed. However, I can't reproduce it here quickly. A sample image would be helpful, along with your exact preview settings.

Okay, you're writing metadata to RAW images with ExifTool, but this is changing the preview image. But this isn't resolved after a restart. Immediately disable writing metadata to RAW files. We'll investigate...

disable writing to ORF/ORI files
Due to Exiv2 issues reading ORF/ORI files, a valid EXV container
cannot be created for the write process with ExifTool.

Here are a few raw files and pictures of my view configuration
1st change= Preview from embedded to full image== woks fine 
2st disable writing metadata to RAW files, will do next

Updated to Image-ExifTool-13.39 same problem

disabled:  Metadata=Rating
activated: Views/Preview = embedded view 
gave some pictures a 1 Star, now no problems with the Preview
only the ones from before are still blurry

All Raw settings have been disabled. If you need more files, just let us know.
