Bug 510798

Summary: [Somewhat resolved] Plasmashell freezing and consumes CPu, when right-click on desktop to menu appear, while Analog Clock widget is present on desktop. (Don't choose "Breese Dark" Plasma style, just "Breeze" and dark color scheme if you need)

SUMMARY

I'm testing Plasma 6.5 and expecting plasmashell freezing and CPU consuming, when rught-clicking at desktop. Menu appears with delay, and shell is freezing unless I delete Analogue Clock widget from desktop. Also at the stuttering there is OmlQNotify thread overhead in plasmashell process according to 'perf top' process monitoring.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add Analog Clock widget to desktop.
2. Start right-clicking on desktop.
3. Expect shell freezing and CPU consuming

OBSERVED RESULT
Shell freezing and CPU hogging.

EXPECTED RESULT
Fast and robust interaction with shell, fast right-click menu appear, regardless of widgets on desktop.

Cannot reproduce immediately
Comment 2 Lenzoid 2025-10-20 08:56:29 UTC
Sounds annoying, but cannot repro on 6.6 dev (git-master from like a week ago).
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2025-10-20 16:33:52 UTC
I can't reproduce it either.
Comment 4 Niccolò Venerandi 2025-10-21 07:58:45 UTC
Nothing here either :-/ Does this happen on a clean install / different device for you?

I found the case/ Bug reproducing only, when I chose "Breeze Dark" in "Plasma Style" appearance setting, when choosing just "Breeze" or any/other/custom theme, it's alright, bug is not present in this case.
