SUMMARY
Digikam downloads AI files to user specific storage

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
- Install digikam
- Choose "yes" after (first) start to download AI model files
- Goto Digikam Settings -> Misc -> System, Choose open local Storage" (for AI Files)

OBSERVED RESULT
-> Files were downloaded to "C:\Users\<xxxxx>\AppData\Local\digikam\facesengine,
<xxxxx> being the user that is ciurrently logged in.

Does that really make sense ? Digikam installs itself automatically "for all users" (without any choice to restrict it to a single user), and those files are nothing that is changed by the user (unless new versions of Digikam are installed-> which then is again for all users".
This location is fine for e.g. the basic settings, "digikamRC" , so every user on the machine can have his/her own settings (fonts, other appearance, folders to include etc.), but those AI files correlate to the base installation and should go to "C:\Users\All Users" (or another selectable common location).

EXPECTED RESULT
see above

This has already been fixed for digiKam-8.8.0; a directory for the facial engine files can be specified.
digiKam-8.8.0 will be released this weekend.

Thanks for the quick response, Mai. Couldn't find *that* in the existing bug reports or kde discussion.
Will give it a try next week.
Closing.
