Description Chris Jimenez 2025-10-17 06:24:37 UTC
A lesser-known Windows 10 bug has been quietly frustrating many users by causing their PCs to slow down over time, especially after prolonged use without a restart. The issue stems from the Windows Search Indexing service, which sometimes fails to release system resources properly after indexing large volumes of files. This leads to excessive CPU and disk usage even when the computer is idle, resulting in sluggish performance, delayed app launches, and occasional system freezes. Disabling and re-enabling the indexing service temporarily resolves the issue, but the slowdown gradually returns, making it a recurring performance drain for many Windows 10 systems.
