Description Jason M. 2025-10-15 08:16:14 UTC
SUMMARY
When attempting to modify or move a file/folder inside of a SMB share an access denied error occurs. Deleting files or creating new ones works but any other action causes this error. Tested in Dolphin and Krusader.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect to SMB share
2. Attempt to rename or move any file/folder

OBSERVED RESULT
An access denied error occurs.

EXPECTED RESULT
The file should be moved or renamed.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Kernel: 6.17.1-2-cachyos (64-bit)
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.19.0
Qt Version: 6.10.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This behavior was observed in both Dolphin and Krusader which both use KIO. When I downloaded Nautilus for testing purposes it functioned correctly suggesting this is an issue with KIO specifically. I update my desktop weekly however I haven't altered files on my SMB share via my Desktop in weeks if not a month, so I'm unsure if it broke during 25.08.1 or if this is very recent.
