When on first run, and subsequent runs, it stops at 6%. I'd like to know how to purge all configuration files and all installation files for the appimage so I can start as a totally fresh install as the thought of having to do a format and reinstall of an entire operating system just to test a theory isn't appealing.

Start the AppImage from a console following instructions here :

Yeah, it's working now. It just hangs forever before resuming.
